Using my old method of an overly complicated Excel spreadsheet to build labels, I could easily create labels for DMX looms/hods/whatever you call them, not unlike one might create for multi.
I rarely have a need to label individual dmx jumps, which I feel the new Data Cable setup in LW6 is meant for.
With LW6 I was able to generate very nice multi labels with parts # of #, location, cable, etc, etc... But I would like to do that EXACT same thing for my data runs from the racks to the fixtures (but not the jumpers that connect the fixtures together.)
For example I'd like to build labels that contain the following information:
Data F (this would be the "Data Name")
Univ 8 (Univ)
# of # (duh)
Truss 6 (location)
150' 5P (cable)
Viper Perf (fixture type)
and to be able to
Data F
Univ 8
# of #
Truss 6
150' 5P
SPARE
I tried for hours to find a way and either I'm too dumb or too tired to discover the correct way to do this. I ended up inputting dummy Circuit Names to act as my "Data Name" and that worked relatively well, but I was not able to add Universe onto the label which made me shed the tiniest of tiny tears.
I also add a LOT of multi and dmx spares into the mix. Each truss has at least one multi spare and one data spare, is there a way to indicate SPARE multi other than adding another label and manually inputting SPARE on it?
Ultimately, I don't know that this cable labeling system will work for me, but I do LOVE having LW generate the fixture labels, that was amazingly. For the time being I may just have to go back to the old Excel spreadsheet way.
Thoughts?
