In my old way of making labels, I would have a separate cell in a spreadsheet for every multi label I needed. There would be a # of # field associated with that. so if I have a multi run with 3 pieces, my first would have circuit name, position, and 1 of 3, then 2 of 3, then 3 of 3. is there any way of doing that with the new label system?

Yes. It starts in the Circuit Name Maintenance List.
The Maintenance List now has a field for Cable Length. (This is different from the Cable Length column in the worksheet) In that Field, you enter each length separated buy a comma. So if Part 1 is 100', Part 2 is 75', and Part 3 is 50' you enter 100',75',50' in the Maintenance List.
The Multi Label that came pre-built on Install has a '# of #' field that works exactly as you expect it to.
[Edit: After playing around a bit, I found you can also add the Cable Column to the Maintenance list]

So then does the Fanout jumper extensions and twofers get listed in the same way in the BREAKOUTS maintenance list or are they supposed to be made in their own CABLE maintenance list?
- edit- ... And I can't seem to get the dimmer setup to work right. Im using a 208 phase template but my loads are being calculated on only one phase.

I put jumpers and the like in the Cable column, other people like to create a column for each cable type.
Unless I'm mistaken, the 208v phase bug has been around since LW4. I was hoping 6 would squash it.

Take a look at Dimmer Details, be sure you have two phases assigned to each dimmer. It sounds like there's only one, so you should fix the 208v phase template and make sure it has two phases for each dimmer in the rack.

. In LW6, Dimmer numbers and dmx address are different by default. You can link them which is what would be typical for a rig of conventionals.
Based on the photo you attached, all your racks are addressed to dimmer '001', which is why your first dimmer shows a load of 26 amps on a 20 amp circuit. It's calculating the dimmer 1 of every rack since you told it they are all on the same power source and same dimmer. The yellow ! is notifying you that your racks are overlapping. Rack 2 could be at 97 (or my preference; 101), rack 3 at 201, etc. If they are MLD racks and not conventional dimmers, and not POWER isn't controlled by DMX (meaning it's manual breaker) then you wouldn't be limited by 512 dimmer dmx, since they aren't seeing DMX.

@ Scott, "Rack 2 could be at 97 (or my preference; 101), rack 3 at 201, etc." ...And That's what I ended up doing but That caused NO loads calculated on my MLD. It would be nice if I could start my MLD rack at 1 so that circuit 58 is in fact circuit 58 on the MLD just because its more intuitive for my crew. @ JohnMcSoft; Yes, My ML Distro Phase template WAS built with at least two phases chosen for each circuit.

Bill, For Moving Light racks, try naming your "dimmers" (or breakers) with letters and numbers. I name my racks ML A, ML B, and so on.
So my breakers for rack A are A1, A2, A3.... and the same for B (B1, B2...)
This will keep everything separate, but still make sense to the crew as to which breaker is which.
And you can link your Multi cables to the racks, which will then populate the Dimmer column for you as you set the Circuit Name and Number.

Litedoctor, Cool, I'll try to stick with that format. ...And then back to your first reply to this thread, (specifying cable lengths), How do you notate the part 1s as different from the separate cables needed to make up the part 1s? I'm hoping the way to do it is to put: MLA1 100'+25',50',25'
Which would be to say that my part1 is 100' and a 25' ganged together, Then my part2 is a 50' and my part3 is a 25'. Is that correct? ...Will that count my cables correctly as well as separate my part 1s, 2s, and 3s for labels?

That's an interesting question. The way I look at it, every new cable is a new Part, so you've got 4 Parts there, not 3.
But to keep it in your world...yes, I think that should work as you intend it. LW reads a comma as a "separator" and a plus sign as a "combiner". So it should be able to handle that logic.
In the Label generators' Formatting Palette, you select the Cable text field and check the box that reads "Separator characters generate new labels." (I shouldn't quote that, I'm not looking at the window right now, but I'm pretty sure that's the text.)
If you also want a "1 of 3" tag on the cable, create a 2nd Cable text field and check both the Separator box and the "field is # of #" box.
That should give you what you're looking for.
[EDIT: I went into my "Testing" LW file to see what would happen. Yes, it would create your Part 1 as 100' + 25'. However, it does not separate them for counting. So your count would show
1) 100' + 25'
instead of
1) 100' 1) 25'
So keep that in mind as you make your final counts.]

Sweet, Ill give that a shot on my own "Testing" file as I settle in backstage on my next show. Thanks

There are so many ways to lay out your Racks and PD's numerically. It's great to see how other people do it! Here is how I lay out my Racks and PD's. I just name my Dimmer Racks 1-2: 101-196, 201-296 and then PD's 3+ 301-348 as needed. In this show I have 7 dimmer racks and 3 PD's. You can see in this circuit name maint. how you can link the Circuit names in the PD's with no patch bay and the dimmers will fill in automatically. One of my favorite new features!

Kevin, How are you addressing the actual dimmer racks for Stage 5, Stage 6 and Base 7 higher than 512? I see they are 'linked' which means the 'dimmer' address is the same as the 'dmx address'.

Scott,
Rack 5 is a split fed Sensor rack
Port A is universe 1 ...starting at 501 - 512 Port B is universe 2....starting at 2/1 DImmer 513
Yes then you can link them.

Kevin appears to be using Absolute addressing (so Universe 2, Address 1 = Address 513) although I'm not sure how you get a Dimmer rack to split universes like that.
I prefer to view everything in Universe format (1/101, 2/1, etc) just to keep everything straight in my head.
