Well, I figured I'd get the ball rolling with one of my labels. This is the label I use for DMX cables. Like most of my labels, it's based on the Avery 5520 template (1" x 2.63", 30 to a sheet. Vinyl backing so they don't tear easily) For the most part, I only label the Home Runs. So I set the worksheet to View by Data Cable, select only the lengths that would be home runs and then print from there. Each end of the label gives the same info, Universe, Position and Unit#, Fixture Channel, and Length of the Data Cable. I wrap the center of the label around the cable, creating a Flag with printing on both sides. Print 4 of each, for each end of the Home Run and its Spare (I take a Yellow Highlighter to the spare to identify it.) Attachments:

If you want instead of highlighting the spare manually you can set a variable to one of your info lines. When you have one selected click on the gear on the left side and a new window will pop up, in that window you should see a box (default is black) with Normal below it that and one to the right labeled Variable. If you are not using it it will say off. Once you click it to turn it on it will allow you to say what the variable is to change the font/background. I just use SPARE under purpose which works well for fixtures but you might need to add a line tot he DMX Cable label above for it to be useful since you will still want all of the information that is currently on the label event though it is a spare.
I will try to make a quick video on the process tonight and post tomorrow.

Put a panel on the label, in the formatting palette (via the gear button) set a variable color (yellow) so the panel turns yellow whenever the worksheet row's Purpose contains "spare". I think there's a sample label under the Help menu that does this.

It all makes sense, but I print on a B&W Laserjet, so that doesn't change anything for me.
I have made one change, however. My Data Cable field now recognizes separator characters and prints 2 Labels for each length. (Instead of printing 4 labels for each entry as I did previously.) This allows me to print labels for each cable (not just Home Runs) easily while making my Counts easier to manage.

The next release of Lightwright (6.0.5) adds "none" as a color for labels objects, which makes them invisible until a condition sets their color to something visible. That will help your problem when printing in black and white, in that you can make a black panel shape appear and disappear.

This is great and I use it for all of my spares now. Thanks!
