I've been using LW for a while, but have this problem that when I sort by position, nothing is in alphabetical (or any) order. I have one venue that has things like 1E, 2E, etc. but there are also multiple "Bays", SR and SL, so I have positions named Bay SR1-1, Bay SR1-2, through things like Bay 3SL-1 and Bay 3SL-2 There are also balcony rails and Truss positions... You get the idea.
When I use the "sort by position" I'll get a mess. They are sorted WITHIN the positions, but the positions themselves with be like
Truss SR Bay SR1-1 Balcony Rail 1 Truss SL 1E Bay SL1-2 Bay SR2-1 Bay SL1-1
No rhyme or reason. ANY ideas?
UPDATE: OK... I did find the dialogue box that allowed me to rearrange the positions (and put them into families), which is cool, but still, shouldn't the default "alphabetize" be actually that?

Here in the US, positions are usually kept in a logical order based on where they are. For instance, all of the front of house lighting positions, then the lights over the stage, then side lights, then lights on the deck. Within each general grouping, they're ordered logically, typically from downstage to upstage or from nearest to farthest from the proscenium.
So Lightwright never assumes alphabetical order for any of the lists, though once you set them up you can alphabetize them with a button click by going to the Maintenance window for the category. Maintenance is the place where you set the order for all of the various lists (positions, lights, cable, etc), which are the "master" lists. Changing anything on them automatically changes all instances of those entries globally in the data.
If you haven't already looked at it, you might want to look through the tutorial that comes with Lightwright. You can find it under Lightwright's Help menu. If you need deeper help or sample files, create an account at lightwright.com then file a bug report/support ticket on that site. Those tickets come to the attention of the Lightwright LLC partners right away, unlike this forum, which is run by Lightwright users and doesn't have any official connection to the company.
