When creating labels, it would be great if under Variable Label Color you could define multiple colors, rather than just one color per item. My thinking is... I would like to create a box that corresponds to the truss color, so that rather than using many colors of gaff tape to label fixtures, the color would be on the labels. This could also apply to text colors. "I want all of my 19 degrees in red, my 26 degrees in green, and my 36 degrees in blue." Attached is my mock up of what the Variable Label Color window might look like.

I would like this option as well.

I should add...
And be able to have a lot more than just three lines available. Like at least 10-12.

I'd also like this feature. Maybe an AND conditional as well.

It's a fair amount of work, but you can pile panels on top of each other, set each panel's color to None except when the condition is set, when it shows up in the appropriate color.

I've been working on a label doing that exact thing. Sadly, when I save the label and come back later to work on it, several of the layers switch from transparent to gray when they are not actively being their assigned color.
Also, stacking up the boxes makes it nearly impossible to modify. Good luck finding which box to click on if you need to change something about it.

It's a lot of work, and tedious to try and edit stacked fields later. What makes it worse is that they 'forget' their transparency, as you stated. (Mine turn yellow). It seems to happen when saving a label and reopening, but didn't have time to fully troubleshoot that theory.

Nobody's filed bug reports or emailed me about labels forgetting their transparency, I had no idea. I'll take a look at the code and see if anything jumps out at me, but having a label file that lost its transparency to test would be helpful.

I just looked at Lightwright's label code, and the only case I can find where a label would lose its transparency is it the label was opened in an older version of LW6 that doesn't support transparency and then the file was saved (thereby losing the transparency). As long as labels are opened and saved in 6.0.6 or later, transparency *should* be preserved.

John, I haven't filed a report yet, because I was trying to consistently reproduce. It wasn't every time but it was happening.

It's a nightmare having a bunch of panels on top of each other with no layers or classes to select through when you're trying to color code your universes.

This is all on the wish list, but it won't happen until Lightwright 7. Lightwright's timeline for new releases is every 3-5 years, so it won't happen right away. First step is getting 64-bit Lightwright out the door, which is in beta now. Then I can start on LW7, and with luck you'll see it in a couple of years later.

Another useful opton for assigning colors on labels that would be a great add is if text/fill colors could be assigned in maintance lists for variable colors. ie. Position, instrument type, Circuit Name
