Hey All!
Here is an issue I am having, or maybe it's just me....
If in the "Circuit Name Maintenance" section there is a place to enter Mult Cable lengths, and then in the Regular Worksheet there is a Cable column to put in Mult cable lengths. Shouldn't they display the same info in both places?
I see cable lengths all going into the same "Cable Maintenance" list. But it is confusing to work in both locations.
Am I missing a check box somewhere to make it link and show the same info in both places?

Hi Kevin, My understanding is these are to different ways of going about the same process so they are linked in any way. For example you could rename your Cable column to stage pin and use it for pin cable saving the circuit name maintenance method for multi cable. Personally I need to position and other info with my multi so I don't use the circuit name maintenance method. Also I use user columns for each cable type in my rig so that it's faster to do the data entry (at least for me). I hope this helps --Trevor

Trevor,
I agree with you. IN LW 5 I used different user columns for different types of cable too, for some I still do.
I guess my issue/complaint is that if i add a column into the circuit name maintenance shouldn't that column reflect the same data in some way in the Main worksheet? I guess the issue is what position it shows up in since it is only associated with the circuit name.
I hate to abandon the feature and the cable column completely, but this limitation hides some of the data for a column in worksheet view.

Personally I haven't played with the features in the cable maintenance to much because I'm a bit of a stickler for having as much info as possible in both VW and LW at the same time. I've also heard some grumbling that counting doesn't work properly from cable maintenance, personally I have not verified that rumor. --Trevor

I can understand the VW / LW link. I have not seen a problem in cable counting, I saw that complaint on another site and I checked it. Not an issue that I can tell.

My understanding is the Cable column in the worksheet is intended for Jumpers and Single Run cables, not Multi cables.
The Cable (and Data Cable) columns will accept all input, not just numbers. That's the key to unlocking its usefulness.
So when the Leko on Circuit 3 of Socapex 'A' needs a 10 foot jumper to reach the breakout, I put '+10 SP' in the Cable column. (or Stage Pin, though I usually shorten it). For a Mover, it might read '+5 L6-20.'
In the Maintenance List, I'll group them into Families just to make them easier to navigate later.
Your Mileage may vary, if you prefer to create separate User Columns for each jumper type. I like the consolidated version so everything is in one place, and when I print Breakout Hookups I only need the one column.

That's an interesting point. Because I like to add jumpers, twofers, quad boxes into the cable column as well. But I like to have a summary by position of just the mult, long data and breakouts in my hand at load in. In LW 5 I would just keep the mult in the cir 1 row and then limit everything else out.
The trouble it making my summary now that some of the info is buried int he Maintenance list.

The worksheet Cable column is for jumpers or whatever that apply to a specific light. The Cable column in Circuit Name maintenance is for cable (usually multicable) that applies to the Circuit Name, not any one light.
