I work in a venue that has fairly complicated control and power systems. I have spent a lot of time dialing in the "Dimming and Control" setup as well as Maintenance Lists for inventory and other things for the rep plot, which changes by season, but the space and system remain and continue to evolve.
Can I save these components of my show file in a format that will allow me to merge it into future files from our in house or guest designer?
Thanks,
Brian

I think the answer is yes... Depending on what information is in the Designers LW file.
The two options are "Reconcile" and "Merge". Each has advantages and disadvantages.
Basically..if you use your file as the "first" file and reconcile it with the designers file. Your file's rack, fixture and setup information should remain and you can select what of the designers info you bring into it.
Reconcile is more labor intensive because you have a list to go through to see what info is being brought into your file.
Merge works well when you have a "blank" LW file that contains setup, column info . And you want to add the LD's Channel and instrument info. But it works all at once and you can't see what got priority.
Both are good tools and worth a try to see how they will help you.

Merge also lets you bring in your control setup info (dimmer ranges, universes addresses, etc.) or specific maintenance lists from another .lw6 file.
In your case, you could merge your control setup into the designer's file. Or you could bring stock inventory quantities, etc. from your file into the designer's file.
