Last night I was trying to get a rough idea of how many addresses a show used to make sure it would fit in my console's available parameters and couldn't find a good way to do it. I found "count addresses by position" but that seems to just take the number of start addresses used per position. I was looking for something to include all the ranges of MLs to count every perimeter of control and just thought I'd share!

It's not very elegant, but you could add them up using the DMX Address map.

You can turn on the range option. SETUP - SHOW ADDRESS RANGE. Then just go to your highest addressed device.

Here is an idea...
What if you list all of the addresses in the worksheet and then look at the number of items in the worksheet. Lower Right corner.
Shouldn't that count what you are looking for?

I don't think that will get him what he wants, Kevin. If I understand correctly, he's trying to tally up the total number of DMX attributes used.
So for example if he has 10 Best Boys, those use 45 channels each. In your suggestion, LW would count those as 10 items in the worksheet.
What beells is after though, is the 450 DMX channels those Best Boys take up.

Good point.
That's true.
It does sound like a good feature. LW does display dmx ranges so it shouldn't be tough to add.

Likewise add my support to this request. There are ways of course to find this information while patching, but it would be really helpful to have a floating window with remaining DMX address per universe to give you a quick idea of where there is space left.
Cheers,

Currently, the easiest way to do this is to make sure you have profiles selected for all of your lights that need them, so that the DMX Qty is populated in Maintenance/Instrument Type.
Set up more universes than you might need.
Then on the worksheet, view All, turn on the Address column and select all of the cells in it. Then type "1+" into the Address cell and press Enter. Lightwright will assign addresses to everything, skipping ahead based on the profile (DMX Qty) of each light.
That should give you a pretty good idea what you need. You can then use Edit/Undo to restore the original addresses, or just clear the cells.
