Hi All, Looking for favorite brands, size, label numbers, etc. of labels people are using. What sticks well? Are you wrapping all the way around cables to have the label stick to itself like a band aid? Most of my current work are one off projects that need labels to last a week at most. Shop prep, load in, done. Next job, etc.
Thanks, Scott

I know a lot of guys have different sizes they use for different purposes. I'm a one size fits all kind of guy. I use the Avery 5520 Weatherproof Address Label. (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00006IBUV/) It fits on just about everything, I can get a decent amount of Info on the label, and it's a tough label. (The sample labels that John included with LW6 use this size) On lights I'll stick them on a strip of Black Gaff (so they don't leave any residue on the light). For cables I'll stick them right to the connectors, then wrap them with 3M's Clear Vinyl Tape (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01ENBFC9U/) Data cables I treat a little differently. Hi All,
Can anyone tell me if I'm able to use the DYMO Label Writer 450 with LW6's Label maker function?
Regards, Dom

Sadly no. It has been requested. At the moment only sheet labels are compatible. Many of us would love to have labels available for brother P-touch or other single one off label machines. This one is important for a lot of us who would just like to send off 1 label and not burn a sheet of labels or for that matter to load a printer. It's more important for me once I've left the shop to have that option as items are being moved around. So many good things in LW6 already!.......but Someday... .

Yes, so sad!
the limitation is in the page setup for "custom label." You can only choose 8.5"x11" or A4
Custom Page size exists for printing paperwork but not for labels.
You could literally print your instrument schedule on a label but not a label.
I live in hope it wll be added some day and all of my labeling dreams will come true! Kevin

When you start the print job, a dialog box comes up with a preview of the label sheet on the Left. Above the preview LW asks you to "Click on the first available label on the sheet." So if you've got a sheet with the first 10 labels gone, just click on label number 11 and your print job will shift down to that spot as your starting point. During shop prep I ask the crew to return any sheets that still have labels on them so I can use them for those one off labels that always seem to pop up on site.

Yes. Of course.
Didn't meant to confuse anyone other than to state it is still sheets specific only! And as your aware if you put a sheet through much more than twice the printer labels tend to uncurl themselves and muck up the printer. At least for me. It's also another step.....Oh it's the 5th labels down and 2 over and now Im lined up and now put it in the printer.....ect ect ect. Much easier to just send to my brother QL-1050 for 1 quick labels. As Kevin has said it's available for paperwork. Just not for labels.

I get that.
I see why people like the Label Printers, but for me that's just one more device I have to haul around and make room for on my desk/in my box. I'm already bringing a printer with me, so the couple of extra steps don't bother me that much.
But, we all work in different ways.

I've gotten the Dymo Labelwriter to mostly work by creating a label/page size. I've only been able to use a vertical orientation for my layouts, and sometimes I have issues with the first or last label not printing for some reason.
I prefer the Thermal labels because there isn't ink to bleed, or toner to rub off.</attachment></attachment>

I've had success with Avery 6468 labels, 2" x 4". They're removable, and they actually come off clean, which is amazing for short-term projects under a couple months. They do have a tendency to peel on rougher surfaces.
